Bush to View Devastation from Hurricane Katrina

9-1-05 - President Bush tomorrow will tour the Hurricane Katrina-devastated Gulf Coast region.

He's asked his father, former President George Bush of Houston and former President Clinton to lead a private fund-raising campaign for victims.

The president will fly to Mobile, Alabama, then survey the Alabama and Mississippi coast by helicopter before visiting some sites on the ground in Mississippi.

Bush then plans to travel to swamped New Orleans for an aerial tour.

Bush yesterday got a higher-altitude view when Air Force One dropped several thousand feet to fly directly over the region.

The president was flying back to Washington after spending time at his Central Texas ranch.
