7-20-05 - Storms that rolled through Texoma on Monday brought plenty of lightning along with the rain, but one strike killed five horses near Ardmore on Springdale Road. The rancher made the discovery Tuesday.
The rancher went to check on his herd yesterday morning and found two of his mares along with three colts dead underneath a pecan tree.
The lightning went through a branch of the tree before touching the ground. One colt did survive, but he is now blind in one eye and he isn't walking correctly.
The rancher buried those horses yesterday in a pasture off Springdale Road. The same storm produced a lightning strike that burned down a north Ardmore home.
