9-19-05 - Three killings were under investigation after a 13-year-old girl was found stabbed to death at home and two more bodies were discovered in a burned car in this rough border city, authorities said Sunday.
The body of Alejandra Diaz, 13, was discovered on Saturday morning by her five-year-old sister, uncle and grandmother in Diaz's second-story bedroom. She apparently was killed early Saturday by an undetected intruder with a sharp instrument, Chihuahua state attorney general Patricia Gonzalez said.
An autopsy found no signs of sexual assault.
State prosecutors also were investigating the killings of two men whose bodies were found Saturday inside the luggage compartment of a burned car abandoned on the eastern side of Juarez. The men had been shot to death before the car was set afire.
No arrest had been made in either case.
Authorities say more than 350 women have been killed since 1993 in Juarez, a city of about 1.3 million people across the U.S. border from El Paso, Texas. The city also is contending with a rash of killings attributed to rival drug trafficking gangs.
