7-26-05 - KENNEDY SPACE CENTER (AP) - The space shuttle Discovery has lifted off for a flight to the international space station. It
marks a return to flight for the shuttle, two and a-half years after the Columbia disaster.
Seven crew members are on board for a 12-day mission.
The weather cooperated for the launch -- as did the sensors on the shuttle's external fuel tank. A problem with one of those sensors caused a Discovery launch to be scrubbed two weeks ago.
Technicians were never able to figure out what the problem was.
