7-27-05 - A Pauls Valley man was killed early this morning by a drunk driver going the wrong way on I-35. It happened inside the city limits when Jay R. Bonner of Whitney, Texas was southbound in his 2000 GMC pickup in the northbound lanes.

He hit a 1999 Nissan Maxima left front to left front. That car was spun into a tractor-trailer - the car actually run over by the dual wheels of the trailer. The 46-year-old driver, Charles E. Allison, died at the scene.

The truck driver was not injured. Bonner was admitted to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Troopers say alcohol played a role in the accident, although the Pauls Valley man was not wearing a seatbelt.
