7-28-05 – Police are questioning one man after finding him near evidence connected to a bank robbery that happened Thursday morning in Ringling. A robber struck the First National Bank shortly before noon.
Investigators say he walked in with a cardboard sign that had a message scrawled on it. The message said "Empty the money - this is not a joke."
Ringling police have released a description of the suspect: a young, while male with shaggy hair and a black beard. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt with blue jeans. He was also wearing eyeglasses.
Search dogs and police helped find clothes in a culvert that matched the description of the robber. A man nearby is being questioned, although authorities say it doesn't appear the clothes fit him. They are leaving open the possibility that more than one person is involved in the crime.
