9-27-05 - An elderly Ardmore man is lucky to be alive today after he was beaten, robbed and drug by a car.
Police say that James Earl Adams, 43, picked up the elderly man from work Monday afternoon, robbed him of $300 and beat him. Then they say Adams took him to an alley near the 142 Bypass and Ross Street where he pushed him from the vehicle after apparently being dragged for a while.
Amazingly, the 84-year-old was able to get up and walk a few blocks to flag down a car. Currently he is hospitalized but in stable condition.
Adams reportedly is the boyfriend of the 84-year-old victim's granddaughter. Police say there may be yet another person involved.
