9-27-05 - Officers arrested two people after finding drugs and a firearm during a raid on a Sherman residence Tuesday morning.
Clarence Whitfield Hall, 31, and Baisha Moore, 28, both from Sherman, were arrested and processed into the Grayson County jail.
Narcotics officers found one pound of marijuana, one gram of crack cocaine, $500 cash and a .45 caliber pistol. In addition to Hall and Moore, police found two small children believed to be less than four years of age.
When a crime of this nature occurs within 1,000 feet of a public school, park, or other areas such as this, they are labeled as having occurred in a Drug Free Zone (DFZ). As a result, if the suspects are prosecuted on the state level, they could face a first degree felony charge.
Sherman police narcotics officers may seek federal charges against the suspects because of the presence of a firearm. Both suspects are felons.
