8-2-05 - Nobody was hurt today when the crew of an American Airlines jet noticed an electrical smell and safely landed at Dallas-Fort Worth.
Passengers used the rear chute of the MD-80 to deplane. American spokesman Tim Smith says the captain had reported an electrical-type smell.
Flight 584 was bound from Tucson, Arizona, to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. The jet, carrying 101 passengers and a crew of five, stopped in a runway area so those on board could slide down the chute.
Buses then carried the passengers to a nearby terminal. Smith says the cause of the odor is sought. He says there was no immediate sign of a fire.
