8-3-05 - Oklahoma State officials are responding to a lawsuit filed by an OSU grad that says Boone Pickens Stadium isn't in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The federal lawsuit by James Lawson of Stillwater says seating, parking, concessions, restrooms and other facilities don't comply with the federal law.
OSU spokesman Gary Shutt says in a statement that the university is sensitive to the needs of the disabled and that all new work on the stadium fully complies the disabilities act. Shutt says the issues raised by Lawson are related to pre-existing facilities in the 85-year-old stadium.
The US Department of Justice says stadiums built after January 1993 must comply with the ADA. OSU's stadium opened in 1920.
