8-3-05 - The governing body for Texas high school sports today put Pilot Point High School's boys athletic program on probation for one year.
The University Interscholastic League also issued a reprimand for eligibility problems during football coach G.A. Moore's final season.
A U-I-L investigation found problems with using an ineligible player in football and basketball -- and incomplete paperwork for others.
Moore is the winningest coach in Texas high school football history with 404 victories, and he'd already been forced to forfeit eight games from last season.
The U-I-L's State Executive Committee says Moore must appear before them if the 66-year-old returns to coaching at a Texas public school.
Moore today told The Associated Press, quote: "I guarantee you (we) went by the rules."
-- In April, the Denton Record Chronicle published e-mails circulated among some Pilot Point coaches that included racial epithets and sexual innuendo about students. Two coaches later resigned.
