A combination of very strong winds, falling temperatures and frozen precipitation will make Wednesday and Wednesday night dangerous for motorists. Freezing rain and sleet will change to snow before ending late Wednesday or early Thursday. Wind chills of 5 to 10 degrees...with air temperatures in the low 20s...can be expected. Roads will be icy Thursday morning but should melt during the day as skies clear and temperatures rise above freezing.
10-14-05 - A Madill city worker died Friday morning in what authorities are calling a freak accident. William Ray was checking water meters when a driver rear-ended his pick-up, pinning him under the vehicle.
It happened just after 9 am along Francis Street. Ray, the city's water and cemetery director, was outside the vehicle at the time. He was also a volunteer firefighter. Rescuers used the Jaws of Life to lift the pickup, but Ray, 52, died at the hospital from massive internal injuries.
Tammy Richardson was driving from her house just a block away when she hit the truck – officers say the sun was in her eyes, and she may have not been paying attention.
