8-23-05 - A University of Texas student charged with murder shot his victim before buying a hacksaw and mutilating her body with it, according to court documents filed Monday.
Colton Aaron Pitonyak, 22, has been charged with intentional murder of 21-year-old Jennifer Cave of Corpus Christi, and U.S. Marshals in Eagle Pass arrested Pitonyak early Tuesday morning after he was deported from Mexico on an immigration violation. Police said they had traced his cell phone to Monterrey, Mexico.
According to the court documents, the owner of a hardware store told investigators he asked Pitonyak what he planned to do with the hacksaw and that Pitonyak told him he needed it to cut a turkey. Another store employee said Pitonyak also bought ammonia, carpet cleaner, odor eliminator and latex gloves.
The woman's body was found in the bathtub of Pitonyak's apartment, police said. Investigators said they have not established a motive in the slaying.
