8-23-05 - A 21-year-old Fort Worth man was sentenced Monday to six years in prison for his involvement in a high-speed chase that led to the death of a River Oaks police officer.
Andrew Loyd Grams was scheduled for trial Monday on a felony murder charge. Instead, he accepted the plea deal and sentence for evading arrest in a vehicle leading to a death.
Officer Nathan Laurie, 43, was killed July 29, 2004, when his police car collided with the car of another River Oaks officer. Both officers were chasing Grams, who was at the wheel of a pickup truck reported as stolen from a used-car lot.
Grams was also sentenced to 180 days for burglary of a building and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
