9-8-05 - Texoma airboat pilots are making a difference in New Orleans - pulling hundreds of stranded victims from the floodwater. Harold Speed is one of them - a boat maker from Hendrix, Oklahoma.
Speed and two other area men left on Friday evening bound for the disaster zone. They arrived early Saturday morning and immediately went to work. On the first day, Speed's boat pulled 250 people from the water. The owner of Silver Dollar Boats, these airboats are larger than most, and can easily hold more than 15 people.
