9-9-05 - The city of Ardmore could soon have Hurricane Katrina evacuees as permanent residents. Two local businesses along with the chamber of commerce attended a job fair for the displaced residents Thursday in Dallas.

1-800-Flowers.com and Express Personnel are hoping to find people to fill many openings. But that's just part of their recruiting efforts. The city, along with local churches, is also trying to find evacuees houses and apartments. The Tabernacle Church of Praise even plans to adopt families and pay for their rent until they can get back on their feet.

The Texas Job Fair was just a start. The companies and chamber also plan to go back later next week and go into the shelters to recruit.

If you have a house or an apartment you would like to rent out to these evacuees, call Ardmore city hall at 580-223-2934.
