9-14-05 - Emergency crews have removed a suspicious object that prompted the evacuation of several buildings at Tinker Air Force Base.
Officials say the device was found today by an employee who was cleaning a building near Douglas Boulevard. There was no immediate word on what kind of device was discovered.
Base officials say the FBI declared the area to be a crime scene and is investigating.
As a precaution, a section of Douglas Boulevard was closed and employees were evacuated from several nearby buildings.
Bomb disposal experts were called to the scene, and a 1,000 foot cordon was established.
