TXU Crews Restoring Power In Gulf Coast

9-16-05 - TXU Electric Delivery crews are close to restoring electric service to a critical coal port, International Marine Terminal, in Myrtle Grove, Plaquemines Parish. International Marine Terminal is located about 26 miles south of Marrero and handles approximately 12 million tons of coal and other materials annually. Much of the coal, which is barged down the Mississippi, is shipped to power plants in Florida, and the rest of the United States. Current plans are to have service restored to the terminal Friday.

To date, crews have restored electric service to more than 22,000 customers. As of Wednesday, the total number of contractors and employees of TXU was at 770 including 100 trucks and vehicles. Those crews have replaced 546 poles, 381 transformers, 771 cross arms, and installed more than 3,600 spans of wire.
