JOHNSTON COUNTY, Okla. -- If you host, or otherwise allow teenagers to have a party on your private property in Tishomingo, and those teens are found to be drinking alcoholic beverages, you may be fined $500 or go to jail for up two months.

The Tishomingo City Council has passed a so-called "Social Host" ordinance, designed to curb parties in private homes where adults know underage drinking may take place.

The city attorney says that ordinance is effective immediately.

The fact is that teens aren't supposed to drink. Parents should be parents and not allow their children to drink!!! Enforce rules that will not allow your kids to drink at all!!! Have a brain...

Im so glad they made this ordinance! Im just so excited that now all the underage drinkers are gonna go somewhere else to drink then drive home because they cant drink at their homes anymore... Whoo Hoo! We are so much safer on the road then at home where we are safe!

Jess, I don't know about the mature liver thing but it's my opinion those that will drink at 21 are already drinking before. Why not put it into perspective and control the environment so they don't hurt themselves or others. The actual legal drinking age really doesn't make much difference anyway. Never has, never will. I'm not saying drinking is ok by any means but if a parent does happen to keep anyone of any age off the streets that chooses to drink, do we want to fine them $500 and possible throw them in jail. I don't agree - and I'll drink to that!!! LOL - where's my whiskey?

way to go tish...it`s a whole lot better for them to be out running aroung and getting drunk, than hidden in some house where they are safe...tishomingo government always was made up of some real winners

Mork, the reason the LEGAL drinking age is 21 is because that is when your liver is actually mature enough to handle the contents of alcoholic beverages. Dropping the drinking age would only increase the number of alcohol poisonings and liver failures in the USA.

You know this ordinance isnt gonna work. Because it doesnt matter where the party is thrown or who throws it they are gonna happen. And not every party will get busted becasue not all of them have loud music playing or make the drinking obvious. We who are under 21 have gotten smarter about drinking. And you know, my parents rather I drink with them at their house and get smashed than be somewhere else and end up driving home or whatever. So this whole social host deal is a load of BS! And I agree with mork, Drop the drinking age or raise the armed services age.

I don't know....If my kid that is under 21 wants to drink (and some of them will), do I want them out running around - driving - at the lake - in a pasture - in a bar - who knows where? Or do I want them to come to my house where I can take away their keys & keep them off the steets? hmmmmmm? I always figured if you were old enough to die for your country then you should be old enough to drink. Maybe we should drop the drinking age or raise the armed services age. Social host (lol) thats funny!

That is great, but what about the rest of the county where the kids go in remote locations to party. When will the county commisioners stand up like Tishomingo, and do something about it.

I thought the reporter was going to say he had parties. When you watch the video, he is talking about underage drinking parties. Then he says, "We all have them in our homes". Way to to go Tishomingo.

Well it is about time the city opened eyes to all the teen's that are drinking.
