A part-time Oklahoma Baptist preacher filed Monday morning as a Republican to run against Senator Jim Inhofe. Dennis Lopez, who is from the Thackerville area, says he is running because he believes that's what God wants him to do.
Inhofe has said he will run for a third full term in the Senate. He was first elected in 1994 to fill an unexpired term.
Democratic state senator Andrew Rice is expected to file to run for Inhofe's seat.
If you are interested in running in the state of Oklahoma, candidates can file between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Wednesday of this week, at your respective county election board.
