SHERMAN, TX – Victims of the deadly bus crash that happened early Friday morning were taken to a number of local hospital. According to Fire Chief Jeff Jones, Wilson N. Jones hospital in Sherman was the closest to the accident site of Highway 75 and Park Street.
Nineteen survivors were quickly rushed to Wilson N. Jones shortly after the accident; two of those patients had to be taken into emergency surgery. Three others have been released, while another three were transferred to Harris, Baylor, and Parkland hospitals in Ft. Worth and Dallas. Three of the patients at Wilson N. Jones are currently listed in critical condition while three others are listed in serious condition. Because Wilson N. Jones used to be the only trauma center in Sherman, officials say they were prepared.
Texoma Medical Center also took five patients from the accident. One of those patients was a 14 year old child but has already been treated and released. Two of those taken to TMC had to be flown to Parkland for further treatment. No word on their condition.
Wilson N. Jones and TMC are scheduled to hold a joint news conference at 2:00 pm at Wilson N. Jones in Sherman.
