ARDMORE, Okla. -- Ardmore elementary schools are recognizing Fire Safety Month with some hands-on training for kids. The Ardmore Fire Department will be bringing their Fire House Safety Trailer to each elementary school throughout the month.

The trailer simulates what happens during a house fire, and firefighters use the trailer to demonstrate exactly what to do in that situation.

Firefighters were at Will Rogers Elementary on Thursday.

"We bring the kids out, bring the Fire Safety Trailer out, take the kid through it and gives the firefighters chance show them what to do in case of kitchen fire, or in case of a fire in the bedroom, or in case of a fire in the home," fire marshal Clyde Ellis says.

Kids also got to check out the firefighters' gear, and the fire trucks, and they even got to honk the horn.

To find out when the fire house trailer will come to your child's school, see the schedule below.

The schedule for the Fire House Safety Trailer visits is as follows:

October 9th Will Rogers Elementary
October 10th Lincoln Elementary
October 14th Jefferson Elementary
October 15th Charles Evans Elementary
October 20th Franklin Elementary

Classes begin touring the trailer at 8:45 am and continue throughout the day at each site.
