With the populations of some of the cities in Texoma growing, one area that isn't is the juvenile detention center for Fannin, Cooke and Grayson Counties. County leaders say that's a good thing, and the less juveniles, the better.
The three counties discussed budget plans on Thursday for the detention center located in Denison.
The three counties split the $746,000 it takes to run the center. County officials say they met status quo and are actually budgeting less for the center for next year’s fiscal year, which began October 1.
"We house juveniles from other counties also, not just the three counties. We have some from other counties so I think that speaks well for the juvenile department for each county,” Fannin County Judge Butch Henderson said.
Henderson says there are many improvements for the center planned for next year.
