DENISON -- Dozens of children on Saturday put on their Halloween costumes a little early to celebrate the annual "Boo Run," organized by the Texoma Children's Museum.

Kids raced from Fannin to Burnett Streets for free admission into the Museum, where they spent hours playing inside the facility. Organizers say the museum is a unique place, providing fun and education.

Sasha Best is with the Children's Museum.

"We don't have a lot of resources in this area. We have some great places where you can go that are play places. But this, even though it is a play place, there's some really wonderful, exciting things to do. Everything has an underpinning that's educationally inclined," Best said.

The Museum has scheduled a fund raiser at Denison's Waples United Methodist Church on Wednesday.

It is a shame that our community is not rushing to the TCM's aid. Finding indoor areas that are environmentally, socially, and educationally sufficient are difficult to come by here. Texas weather conditions gives us a desperate need for an indoor resource. Hopefully, we can pull together and keep TCM open. Our children benefit from it!
