DENISON, TX -- A group of Denison seniors are celebrating the Fourth of July in a big way. Seniors at the Denison Nursing and Rehabilitation center are celebrating Independence Day with a wheelchair and walker parade, karaoke, and wheelchair decorating contest.
Officials say they host these events every year to remind seniors that they can still have a little fun as they get older.
"To watch their faces and to watch their smile and to hear from them weeks prior even ‘we have the parade coming up’. That means so much to me because they are getting to enjoy life," Belinda Lowrance at Denison Nursing and Rehab says.
The seniors will also in enjoy a patriotic lunch of hot dogs and chips with their friends and family.
