An Oklahoma National Guard soldier has been killed in action in Afghanistan.
Sergeant Buddy Hughie of Poteau, Oklahoma is being called a hero.
The National Guard says Hughie was killed Tuesday in Nuristan Province while with his unit. They were returning from an undisclosed operation. Hughie was trying to help other wounded soldiers when he was killed.
He was deployed with the 1st Battalion, 180th Infantry, which is providing security to an international coalition that is training soldiers with the Afghan National Army.
Hughie was on his second tour of duty in Afghanistan
