ARDMORE, OK - A former Marietta High school teacher and coach is headed to prison.
64 year-old Edward Haines was sentenced to twenty years behind Carter County bars for obtaining cash by false pretenses yesterday.
Court documents show Haines took thousands of dollars from several Ardmore residents.
Records show he told them the money was for an investment deal and promised they would be paid back with interest.
Sgt. Ryan Hunnicutt with the Ardmore Police said, "He has apparently been involved in the defrauding of several citizens. It's usually some sort of business opportunity that he has talked people into investing in. It's a fraudulent business opportunity, once he gets the money he never makes good on his end of the bargin."
Prosecutors said Haines was ordered to repay his victims when he is released from custody.
