TUSHKA, OK -- A grass fire consumed two mobile homes in Atoka County Monday.
The fire started around 12:30 near Tushka at East Cedar and Wendy Lane.
Authorities think it sparked when hay farmers were mowing grass. About 15 acres burned. Thankfully no one was hurt. Firefighters say if you will be mowing grass, or working with equipment outside to carry a fire extinguisher with you.
Tushka Assistant Fire Chief, Trenton Griffin, says the hot dry weather makes grass fires much harder to fight.
"The dry conditions are really bad on the fires. The low humidity is really the main point. Then the winds are helping any. The winds change directions," Griffin said.
