SHERMAN, TX-One Texoma family lost thousands of dollars worth of belongings after burglars broke into their car Wednesday night and local law enforcement is looking for the suspects.
Mike and Michelle Moore said this wasn't the first time their Sherman home was burglarized, that's why they decided to install a home surveillance system three years ago hoping it will help law enforcement catch the suspects from Wednesday's burglary.

"It was a little scary but we're all safe. No one got hurt."

Mike Moore went after the burglars as soon as he saw them rummaging through his wife's mustang Wednesday night through his home surveillance system.

"He had dropped some of the items he took out of her car and started chasing him barefooted about two blocks down the road. You know I couldn't run anymore with no shoes on so he got away," he said.

His wife, Michelle, saw it all happen.

"I was freaking out. So I called 911, because I can't find the police department's number, and told them what was going on because I had no idea where my husband went, didn't know where the guy went, had no idea what was stolen out of my car. It was a big mess," she said.

She said she'd just returned from the store.

"I had just taken out my groceries, maybe not even quite an hour, about 45 minutes before this happened. And unloaded the car, gone in and fixed the kids something to eat real quick. We're just fixing to come out and lock the doors when my husband came down and asked me who was in my car," she said.

Sherman Police Sgt. Bruce Dawsey said another car on King Street was also burglarized that same night.

"Both the vehicles in these incidents were left unlocked. Which is unfortunate because we have two kinds of car burglars, some that go through just checking for unlocked cars and if they're unlocked, they'll dig through there and find what they can. Other ones go along and if they see something of value they'll break the window and go in," he said.

Moore said the lesson she's taking away from this break-in, keep your valuables out of sight and your car locked.

"From now on it's going to be locked regardless of what I'm doing," she said.

If you recognize any of the men in the surveillance video or have any information on the burglary, call Sherman Police at 903-892-7290.
