DENISON, TX-The president of Grayson College is stepping down.Thursday, the community honored him for his three decades of service.
Dr. Alan Scheibmeir started as a teacher at Grayson College 30 years ago. During his time at the school, new facilities were built including the Center for Workplace learning and the GC campus in Van Alstyne.
Members of the community presented Dr. Scheibmeir with a plaque and the GC choir sang "Happy Trails."
"It's been an honor and privilege to serve the college and the people of our area for these past 30 years and to have people show up and just pay their respects. It's just been something very special, something I'll never forget," he said.
The new Grayson College president Dr. Jeremy McMillen will start Monday.
