ARDMORE, OK - Ardmore drivers may see some extra traffic along Commerce Street down the road.
Monday ODOT began construction to repair a rough stretch of road along US-77, also known as Commerce St.
North and southbound US-77 will be narrowed to one lane between Myall Rd. and 12th St.
ODOT said the project is funded by the state of Oklahoma and will cost roughly $2 million.
Ardmore City Engineer Wayne Busma said the lane closures may mean extra traffic, but said drivers will appreciate the smooth ride in the long run.
"We almost have close to a rush hour, what a big city may have on Commerce St. certain times of the day you would think you are in a much larger city than you are when you are on Commerce," Busma said.
ODOT said construction should be complete in two months.
