GAINESVILLE, TX-Cooke County commissioners voted to change the county's flag policy.
County Judge John Roane said at Monday's meeting, commissioners voted to allow the flags to be lowered based on the decision of President Obama and Governor Rick Perry. Roane said previously the county judge held the responsibility in making that decision, but he said in some prior situations, he disagreed with the president's call to lower flags to half-staff.
The policy change is effective immediately.
