WAPANUCKA, OK - A spring that supplies water to the town of Wapanucka has dried up leaving hundreds of residents without running water.

Johnston County Emergency Management said crews are in the process of hooking up a four inch water line to Atoka County Rural Water. This will temporarily supply water to the town while crews work on a more permanent fix.

City officials said water could be restored by Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. Nearly 500 residents have been without water since Saturday.

Residents can pick up drinking water from city hall and water for plumbing from the fire department. The town is under a voluntary boil order until further notice.
