BONHAM, TX-Dozens of Fannin county residents signed up Thursday to take advantage of the saferoom rebate from FEMA.
Fannin County Emergency Manager, Darrell Brewer said they received $155,000 from FEMA for the county's Individual Safe Room Rebate Program." It'll help aid residents by reimbursing half the cost of a saferoom or shelter.
The grant is enough to help buy 50 saferooms. County judge, Spanky Carter said with severe weather that hit the county last year, this grant will help ensure residents' safety.
"This is a good opportunity for the citizens of Fannin county and anytime we can do anything to help our citizens, we're really excited about it. A lot of times we get a lot of bad weather here in Fannin county," he said.
If you weren't able to attend the meeting and are interested in getting a saferoom, contact the Fannin County Office of Emergency Management (903) 640-8484.
