Former Wilson city employee sentenced to jail for embezzlement

WILSON, OK - A former Wilson utility billing clerk is sentenced to spend a month in the Carter County detention center for embezzling money.

Court records show 43-year-old Rita Morris pleaded guilty to two counts of embezzling money Wednesday. Prosecutors said during Morris's employment with the city, she wrote two checks totaling $8,000, and cashed them for herself.

A judge ordered Morris to begin her thirty day sentence Feb. 18. Morris is ordered to pay back the city of Wilson and pay a $1,000 fine.
