ARDMORE, OK - An American war hero from Carter County will be laid to rest Monday.
The funeral for former Oklahoma State Representative and State Senator Tom Tipps is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Ardmore. Tipps died Thursday at the age of 90.
The highly decorated WWII pilot was the only person to serve in both the Oklahoma House and Senate from Carter County in the 1950's and 60's.
State Senator Frank Simpson calls Tipps an American hero. Both Simpson and Representative Pat Ownbey recently presented Tipps with a special honor before Tipps passed.
A stretch of US-70 has been named after Tipps.
