A combination of very strong winds, falling temperatures and frozen precipitation will make Wednesday and Wednesday night dangerous for motorists. Freezing rain and sleet will change to snow before ending late Wednesday or early Thursday. Wind chills of 5 to 10 degrees...with air temperatures in the low 20s...can be expected. Roads will be icy Thursday morning but should melt during the day as skies clear and temperatures rise above freezing.
ARDMORE, OK - Lawmakers from across southeastern Oklahoma met with local emergency managers Thursday to discuss making burn ban guidelines more proactive.
Representative Pat Ownbey attended the meeting.
Ownbey said the group wrote a letter to Governor Mary Fallin asking her to place all of southeastern Oklahoma under a burn ban.
He said waiting to meet all four of the guidelines for a burn ban is only reactive.
Carter County has currently met two of the four guidelines.
The decision on whether or not Carter County will be placed under a 30-day burn ban will be discussed at Monday's commissioner's meeting.
