Little Dixie helps Oakland family get new home

OAKLAND, OK - A Marshall County family now has a place to call home. Thanks to a local building program.

The Little Dixie house program is funded by the USDA and helps build homes for families who can't afford to do it on their own.

Each homeowner is required work several hours each week on the construction.

Tuesday, Leanna Denny and her family moved in to their new house on Diana Ave. in Oakland.

"People with low income that wouldn't be able to get a loan else where, Little Dixie has made it available for people to make their dreams come true and build a home for their family," Denny said.

Coordinators said this is the first Little Dixie home to be built in Oakland.
