MEAD, OK-The Oklahoma State Fire Marshal said Thursday's deadly explosion at a Bryan county manufacturing plant was an accident.
They said one worker, Sammy Shoults, died at MCSO shortly after the incident at Roll-Off's USA. Another man, Billy Gabbert was treated and released from a Plano hospital.
Assistant State Fire Marshal, JoAnne Sellars, said an air compressor produced flammable vapors which caused the plasma cutter to explode.
"When I think of an explosion, I think of mass destruction. The agent actually said that the building for most part is in fairly good shape and where the incident occured, the damage was pretty much limited to that area," she said.
OSHA also assisted in the investigation. Sellars said the estimated loss from the incident is between $400,000 to $500,000.
