LAWTON, Okla. (AP) - The National Weather Service says parts of southwest Oklahoma are at a high risk of wildfires Wednesday thanks to warm temperatures, high winds and low humidity.

The weather service says a red flag warning is in effect from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday for Comanche, Cotton, Greer, Harmon, Jackson and Tillman counties. That includes the cities of Altus and Lawton.

The weather service says conditions are favorable for wildfires - and that any fires that develop will spread rapidly and be difficult to contain.

High temperatures are expected to be 68 degrees to 75 degrees, with winds that gust as high as 45 mph.
