ARDMORE, OK - Residents in Ardmore will soon have a new place go when they want to spend some time outdoors.
A ground breaking event was held this morning for the new Southwest Park.
It will be located on Plainview Rd. in Ardmore.
City officials said there will be a meeting in September for residents near the park to help select the playground equipment.
Ardmore City Mayor Bob Guerin said it was a community effort that made their dream of a park in that area, a reality.
"Just the view," Mayor Guerin said. "If you are standing here seeing this today, just to be out here is going to be wonderful. Fresh air that goes along with it. It's seven acres."
Guerin said the playground and the pavilion should be completed by the end of October.
The entire park project should be finished by Spring 2013.
