Okla. house approves JaRay Wilson Runaway Child Act

OKLAHOMA - Oklahoma lawmakers consider a bill that would help law enforcement find missing children.

The state house approved the JaRay Wilson Runaway Child Alert System Act earlier this month on a 94 to 0 vote.

The bill is named after 16-year-old JaRay Wilson of Weatherford, OK. Wilson has been missing since last October.

Her family said because Wilson had run away form home before, Wilson did not meet the criteria for an Amber Alert.

Republican Joe Dorman authored the bill. He said it allows parents to report a missing child to DPS despite the child's history or age.

The bill now advances to the state senate.
