SHERMAN, TX-The city of Sherman held their annual "Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event" Saturday.
More than 120 people stopped by city hall Saturday morning to drop off old electronics, appliances, left over pesticides, paint and batteries.
Andreas Liss of the city's environmental department said they've collected over three tons of paint and two trucks worth of waste.
He said because the trucks filled up fast, they had to turn residents away.
"We deal with it, every community has their own problems with household hazardous waste dumping illegally, so we provide citizens the resource and the opportunity to get rid of it the proper way," he said.
The waste collected in this event will be sent over to Fort Worth to be distributed to area recycling plants.
