CALERA, OKLAHOMA -- Forceful winds in Calera have destroyed homes, leading to multiple injuries.

Residents in Calera and Mead are picking up the pieces after winds threw trailer homes into the roadways, ripped down power lines and knocked down trees.

James Dalton with Bryan County Emergency Management says he believes straight line winds of at least 60 miles per hour hit Calera.

Calera Police Chief Don Hyde says that five people have been transported to the hospital, five people were trapped inside a home when it collapsed off Pate Road and Calera Police say there are a couple of mobile homes on top of each other, shutting down the main service road on the north-end of Calera.

"At this point we do not know the amount of damage that has been done. It is significant. We have a lot to businesses and residences throughout our tow," Hyde said.

Calera Fire officals say more than 20 powerlines are down, and hundreds of people are without power. Brian Norton with Calera Fire says power will not be restored until Monday.

We spoke to Lt. Scott Hampton with OHP. He's asking those of you in Calera to not be an onlooker. He says they are cleaning up areas and doing all they can to keep you safe, but they need you to stay out of their line of duty.

Calera police also say they will be working throughout the night. Norton says they are clearning all blocked roads.
