SHERMAN, TX-Texas DPS wants you to be on the lookout for scammers using their name.
They said telemarketers are calling asking for donations on behalf of the Department of Public Safety, but DPS said they're funded by tax dollars and will never call your home or business for donations.
The Department said they'll pursue criminal charges and convictions against anyone who misuses their name or logos.
If you are contacted by a group you believe is misrepresenting itself as part of Texas DPS, contact the Texas Attorney General's Office at 1-800-621-0508.
