More details on young girl who drowned at Turner Falls Park

DAVIS, OK - Turner Falls Park Manager Tom Graham said he cannot release the name of the victim because she is a minor, but he did confirm a 12-year-old girl drowned Saturday afternoon around 5:30 p.m.

"We had a family group that was staying at the Falls, they had been in the water for quite some time." Graham said. "They began hollering for help, the lifeguards went in and brought five people out."

Graham said it was then when witnesses informed lifeguards one of the children was still missing.

"They were playing at The Falls swimming area," Graham said. "She was real close to the dam area actually, in about four feet of water."

The girl, who was just shy of her thirteenth birthday, was located about fifteen minutes later.

Authorities said the girl was taken to a Sulphur hospital and pronounced dead around 6:30 p.m. Saturday evening.

First News was not able to get in touch with the girl's family.

This is the second drowning at Turner Falls Park so far this year.

Earlier this month Christopher Seaton, who was in his early twenties and from Dallas, drowned while swimming at the Bluehole swimming area.
