Whitewright man heads to state jail

GRAYSON CO, TX-A Whitewright man accused of planning to rob a Sherman convenience store with a meat cleaver will spend the next year in jail.

31-year-old William Woods pleaded guilty to theft and was sentenced to 12 months in state jail. Police said back in November, Woods and 37-year-old Ernest Taylor were walking toward the Exceleron downtown carrying a meat cleaver, pepper spray and a switchblade when they were stopped by officers.

Woods was arrested on several charges at that time including the theft charge.
