ARDMORE, OK--What better gift for mom than the gift of good health! That is why the Oklahoma State Department of Health is kicking off women's health week on Mothers Day.
OSDH said more than 60 percent of Oklahoma women are overweight or obese which puts them at risk to greater health problems. Even women who have physically demanding jobs are encouraged to engage in some sort of exercise beyond what they get at work because their bodies get used to any repetitive movements.
OSDH hope to promote healthier lifestyle choices for women, through Women's Health Week by encouraging woman to visit their healthcare providers and take steps to improve their overall health.
Health experts said avoiding smoking, eating a nutritious diet, and getting at least 150 minutes of exercise can lower the risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes.
