AUSTIN, Texas (KXII) - The Texas Workforce Commission announced Wednesday they will be reinstating attendance requirements for subsidized child care.

TWC waived the requirements in mind-March when only children of essential workers were eligible for child care. The requirement will be reinstated July 20.

Children will be allowed 40 unexplained absences during the year. All children will begin with zero absences on July 20.

Parents are required to record attendance on the state’s child care automated attendance system.

Any absences due to COVID-19 will not be counted toward the 40 absence limit.
