SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - Buddy Hanson changed the game in Tom Bean. The Tomcats handed him the ball and the rest was history.

“Buddy Ball” was alive and well in Tom Bean between 2000 and 2003. Buddy Hanson had a tremendous career with the Tomcats and racked up some crazy numbers along the way.

Hanson rushed for 3,225 yards his senior year and had 12 consecutive games with 200 plus yards. He ended up with 8,143 yards in his career with 82 touchdowns. He was the Class 2A offensive player of the year in 2003, and finished his career as the 6th leading rusher in Texas High School football history. He is currently 11th all-time.

Tom Bean had some good teams during this time, advancing into the playoffs. Hanson was also a star on the track helping the Tom Bean relay team get to state.

Hanson would go on to play football at UNT and at Southeastern Oklahoma State.
